What is Reiki?
Reiki, pronounced ‘ray-key’, is often described as “life force energy” or “spiritual energy”. It is a natural, gentle yet powerful form of healing therapy that aims to increase energy levels, promote relaxation and wellbeing and enhance the body’s natural healing ability.
Reiki aims to rebalance the body’s energy flow. A simple way to explain this is by comparing the body’s energy to a river. Our energy should flow easily down through the body. In the river analogy, a pebble, or even a rock, will fall into the river and make the flow of the water a little more difficult. These pebbles are akin to human worries, fears and anger. Each pebble builds on top of the other and soon there is only a trickle of water running in the once free flowing riving. A reiki treatment helps the body rebalance, and allows the flow of energy once again.
Reiki is not a religion, there is nothing you have to believe in to use or receive reiki. It can do no harm and the energy flows to the areas in your body that require it. Reiki is a complementary therapy which works in conjunction with other medical or therapeutic techniques to lower stress, reduce pain and promote wellness.
Clients have reported feelings of less pain, feeling “untangled” or “clean”, greater clarity, calmness or feeling more energised.
Reiki sessions can be held in our Rosebud studio, or I can visit you for a mobile treatment.
30 minutes: $55 (studio) or $85 (mobile)
60 minutes: $105 (studio) or $135 (mobile)
A Reiki treatment is usually applied either on a massage/Reiki table or sitting in a chair and the practitioner places their hands lightly on, or just above your body in a sequence of positions, generally corresponding to the chakra system through the body. During a session, you may feel warmth or cold, a tingling sensation, you may see colours or images, or experience a rumbling tummy, feel sleepy or you may feel absolutely nothing, but know that the energy is still working where it is needed.
Reiki is a beautiful addition to your massage treatment.
30 min reiki plus 30 minute massage: $105 (studio) or $135 (mobile)
30 min reiki plus 60 minute massage: $150 (studio) or $185 (mobile)
Distant healings are also available for Reiki, many clients find these sessions even more powerful than an “in person” Reiki session, as it is a pure connection to the energy. Distant healings include a 30-40 minute treatment at a pre-arranged time, allowing you to relax and appreciate the benefits of the healing. A writing of the finding will be sent to you following the treatment.
Distant Reiki $50
Distant Reiki healings can also be held online (Zoom, Whatsapp, Facebook Messenger) and include a guided meditation, a guided Reiki where I explain which chakra I am working on as I perform the Reiki (or silence if you prefer) and then a chat at the end about the Reiki and how it felt for you and what I may have noted at each chakra.
Guided Distant Reiki $105
As mentioned above, Reiki is a beautiful, gentle modality and workshops are also held for you to learn Reiki. There are 3 levels of Reiki:
Reiki Level 1 – Reiki First Degree or Shoden is the foundation level. It is an initiation into Reiki and is open to anyone (I didn’t even really know what Reiki was when I first decided to learn it, I just “knew” that I wanted it in my life!)
You don’t need any special knowledge, spirituality, equipment, or even “hippie clothing” to learn Reiki – just the desire to create positive changes and greater balance and clarity in your life.
The course includes an overview of the history of Reiki, experiencing the “feel of energy”, learning hand placements on the body to perform Reiki and self and group practice.
There are 4 attunements in Level 1 which allow you to be “initiated” into the energy of Reiki. We all have the ability to perform Reiki, but the attunements or initiations open the energy channels allowing you, as the practitioner, to connect to the universal life force energy, which flows from the universe through the crown of the head and down to the heart and hands.
The course is completed over 2 days (10-12 hours) and the certificate at the completion of the course allows you to practice Reiki on yourself, and your family, friends and pets.
Reiki Level 2, the Second Degree or Okuden can be learned 3 months after your initiation into Level 1 (allowing the energy from the Level 1 attunements to integrate).
In Reiki 2, students receive a further Reiki attunement and the first 3 Reiki symbols that allow the practitioner to connect more deeply to the universal energy, as well as draw on the qualities that the symbols represent. You also learn how to provide distance Reiki, sending healing energy to individuals wherever they may be.
The course is completed over 2 days (10-12 hours). At the completion of the course and receipt of your certificate you are considered to be a Reiki Practitioner and may charge to provide Reiki healing to others.
Reiki Level 3/Reiki Master – Shinpiden. This course is separated into two parts. The first, Reiki 3 teaches you the final two “major” Reiki symbols and can be taught on its own or as the transition into the journey of becoming a Reiki Master/Teacher. Reiki Master introduces you to all the symbols and allows you to experience the power of each, as you learn the process to attune students at each level as well as ultimately receiving your Master attunement. This is a very powerful period of self growth and learning.
You will need to have at least 12 months experience at Level 2 before commencing Level 3. The course is run over a period of time allowing each symbol to be shown and experienced individually.
